FILL IN THE APPLICATION FORM
Once you create your personal profile and you log in, below or in the Members tab you can access the Application Form. Click on it and fill it in

APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION
The Commission for language classification will review the completed Application Form. If everything is all right you will be informed that you application is approved and you need to pay the membership fee

PAY THE MEMBERSHIP FEE
After your membership is approved, the next step is to pay the membership fee. After you do this a public profile will be created with your data in the list of translators and interpreters

MATA members have the right to vote and the right to participate in the MATA bodies. With that, they have the opportunity to take an active role in shaping the future activities of the Association.

CONDITIONS FOR BECOMING A MEMBER
5 MATA SECTORS
Before starting the procedure for becoming a member, carefully read the terms and conditions for each of the translator/interpreter sectors
NON-LITERARY TRANSLATORS
Membership eligibility
Evidence of at least:
2 years of experience as a full-time professional translator in the last 5 years (for in-house translators), i.e.
2,000 pages translated in the last 5 years (for freelance translators); and
3-4 letters of reference, from clients and/or colleagues (not necessarily MATA members).
LITERARY TRANSLATORS
Membership eligibility
Proof of translated at least:
200 pages of dramatic text, or
240 pages of prose, or
180 pages of literary theory, or
1,000 verses, as well as
ISBN/CIP (when applicable); and
3-4 reviews (at least one from a publisher) that will cover the following:
a short biography with a history of published translations;
timeliness in executing the assignments;
comparability of the author's rhythm and style and the ones used in the translated text;
the extent to which mastery of the target and source languages is reflected in the translation;
respecting the norms of the target language and the skill of transferring idioms, expressions and jargon and creating an appropriate effect in the target language; and
cooperation with the proofreaders.
INTERPRETERS
Membership eligibility
Evidence of at least:
2 years of employment as a full-time interpreter in the last 5 years (for in-house interpreters, for all types of interpretation), i.e.
75 days of interpretation in the last 5 years (for freelance interpreters, for all types of interpretation); and
3-4 letters of reference from clients and/or colleagues (not necessarily MATA members).
COURT TRANSLATORS AND INTERPRETERS
Membership eligibility
Evidence that the applicant has been appointed as a permanent court interpreter, namely:
Decision issued by the Ministry of Justice, older than 3 years, or
Certificate issued by a basic court, older than 3 years, and
proof that the applicant actively performs court translation, namely:
extract from the Logbook of court translations kept by the applicant, confirming that the applicant has been performing at least 10 court translations per year.
AUDIOVISUAL TRANSLATORS
Membership eligibility
Evidence of at least:
2 years of employment as a full-time audiovisual translator in the last 5 years (for in-house translators), i.e.
7,000 minutes of audiovisual material translated in the last 5 years (for freelance translators);
sample of 3 translated feature/serial/documentary/animated etc. movies, namely:
50 subtitles of each; and
3-4 letters of reference from clients and/or colleagues (not necessarily MATA members).
