Katica Garoska Acevska freelance literary translator, editor and journalist born in Skopje (R. North Macedonia) graduated English and French language and literature from the University “Ss Cyril and Methodius” in her native town. After the work at the National Library and the Ministry of Culture she devoted her attention to translation, mainly fiction, poetry, essays, short stories from English, French, Bulgarian, Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian into Macedonian language. She has translated numerous well-known authors. She has bee resident, grant holder, in translation centres in Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Sweden, Switzerland, UK (England, Wales), USA. For her achievements as a translator she is the winner of the national literary translation award “Golden pen” for the year 1999; Carl Holenstein translation grant from the Fischer Stifftung and Looren Translation House, Switzerland, 2014; Pro Helvetia/CITL translation grant 2018, as well as Eurodram 2021. Jury member of the national award competition “Novel of the year 2021”. Contributing articles to magazines and newspapers.
