Kalina Janeva (1981) graduated in English Language and Literature, minoring in Italian Language and Literature, from the Blaže Koneski Faculty of Philology in Skopje. After 3 years of teaching, since 2006 she has been devoted almost exclusively to translation. She has completed 20-odd literary translations, primarily from English into Macedonian, but also vice versa, as well as dozens of technical translations, mostly from the field of the Humanities. In recent years she has begun actively translating literature from Italian as well. In 2012, she became an active member of the Macedonian Translators Association (MATA), and as of the following year she has been an Organising Committee member of the Babylon Best Young Translator Competition, co-organised by MATA and the EU Delegation in Macedonia. In September 2015 she became the first Macedonian speaker at the annual conference of the International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (IAPTI), and in June the following year, after MATA had been formally accepted, the first, and for the time being only Macedonian delegate in the European Council of Associations of Literary Translators (CEATL). She is currently a full-time student in the MA programme in English Literatures and Literary Theory at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany.
